Zeta Ophiuchi is burning through its lifespan too - it is already halfway through its short eight million year life. In comparison, our Sun is only halfway through its 10 billion year life expectancy.

Ophiuchus is a distorted pentagon-shaped figure, its bottom starting with two stars close together toward lower center (Yed Prior, at right, and Yed Posterior) and running to the left through Zeta Ophiuchi and ending in bright Sabik.
The star can be found northwest of Zeta Ophiuchi, south of Yed Posterior (Epsilon Ophiuchi) and Yed Prior (Delta Ophiuchi), north of Graffias or Acrab (Beta1,2 Scorpii), and east of Zubeneschamali (Beta Librae).
M12 is eight degrees north of zeta Ophiuchi and two degrees east. M10 is 2.5 degrees SE of M12, with 30 Ophiuchi in the same field. M14 (NGC 6402) needs a 20-cm telescope to resolve; it's more condensed than the preceding two and slightly fainter.
[5793] eta Ophiuchi or Sabik is a binary system comprised of two main sequence stars. It is the northern pole star to Uranus. Together with [5794] zeta Ophiuchi, a hot blue giant that appears reddish because of interstellar dust, ...
