AGL (Above Ground Level)
The term AGL, or above ground level, is interchangeable with absolute altitude, as they measure the same distance. It is the measured altitude of an aircraft above the underlying ground that it is flying over.

AGL: Distance Above Ground Level, usually expressed in feet.
AI: Attitude Indicator; an instrument that provides an 'artificial horizon' display, ...

AGL (Above Ground Level) Altitude expressed as feet above terrain or airport elevation (see MSL).

AGL - Above Ground Level, as a measurement of altitude above a specific land mass, and differentiated from MSL.

AGL: Above ground level.
AGR Slant Range: Straight-line distance from the aircraft to a point on the ground.
AGR: Air-ground ranging.

AGL
Acronym for Above Ground Level. A normal altimeter reads Mean Sea Level (MSL), a more realistic altitude measurement over land is the AGL. Most military aircraft have a "radar-altimeter" to determine their height above ground level.

b. AGL Altitude- Altitude expressed in feet measured above ground level.

After 400' AGL you are free to fly direct to first en route fix unless ATC applies a restriction.
Runway takeoff minimums for a runway apply to all departures unless departure itself has charted minimums.

At 100 feet AGL, make sure you pull the throttle and mixture to idle cut-off. The main reason is that you don't want the engine to roar back to life just after touchdown.

In broadcasting, AGL has relatively little direct bearing on the broadcast range of a station.

Above Ground Level (AGL) - The measurement of the height of an obstacle above the ground. A 250’ radio tower is 250’ AGL. See also MSL.
Amphibious Aircraft - a class of aircraft that can land both on land or water.

For instance, from 0 airspeed, 50 feet AGL, the rotor does not have enough energy stored in it to overcome gravity long enough to descend to the ground at a safe rate.

Using the example above, you experienced engine failure at approximately 300 feet AGL, in a nose high 60 mph climb attitude. Under normal conditions it takes a pilot about 4-5 seconds to react before beginning a turn back to the runway.

AGL: Above Ground Level
AIRMET: Aircraft's Meteorological Information. A type of weather advisory regarding certain weather conditions (turbulence, icing, low visiblity) which could pose a threat to only smaller types of aircraft.

I'll just say I entered IFR conditions shortly after takeoff (500ft AGL) and was unprepared for it. I was mad at myself for making such a dumb mistake but figured it was something I could learn from. I'm instrument rated with 1,500 hours.

“Low' is defined by a combination of your personal comfort zone, the local topography (700 feet AGL in Nebraska is a lot different than 700 AGL feet in parts of Colorado) and the presence of cities, towers and other things you’ ...

The height of a level, point, or object measured in feet Above Ground Level (AGL) or from Mean Sea Level (MSL.) AGL Altitude- Altitude expressed in feet measured above ground level.

AGL - above ground level) and fly the aircraft straight along your chosen track, keeping the altitude as constant as possible and measuring the time (T) between the chosen landmarks (over the distance - D).

On take-off do the same: 30" MAP and 2700 RPM and after passing 500' AGL reduce RPM to 2500 but leave the throttle wide open, this will reduce engine noise.

Radio contact with approach control is mandatory for all traffic. Typically includes an area from the surface to 1,200 feet AGL out to 5 miles and from 1,200 to 4,000 feet AGL to 10 miles from the airport.

Target altitude between 10,000 ft AGL and 25,000 ft MSL.
MERGE(D)
1. Information that friendlies and targets have arrived in the same visual arena. 2. Call indicating radar returns have come together.

The altimeter tells you your MSL (Mean Sea Level) altitude, your altitude above sea level, not AGL (Above Ground Level) altitude. The altimeter works by reading atmospheric pressure, which decreases as altitude increases and vice versa.

ABOVE GROUND LEVEL (AGL) - Altitude of aircraft in feet above the ground surface.

Above Ground Level (AGL) - A measurement of altitude above a specific land mass.

Also in this class are Federal airways, airspace beginning at either 700 or 1,200 feet AGL used to transition to/from the terminal or enroute environment, enroute domestic, and offshore airspace areas designated below 18, ...

Although LSA can be made IFR-capable, sport pilot ticket holders are constrained to VFR conditions and a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet MSL. (Note: Rule revisions are in the works to include a max of 2,000 feet AGL over higher-terrain regions.) Also, ...
