Approach Gate: That point on the final approach course which is one mile from the approach fix on the side away from the airport or five miles from the landing threshold, whichever is farther from the landing threshold.

 


APPROACH GATE- An imaginary point used within ATC as a basis for vectoring aircraft to the final approach course.

The approach gate is an imaginary point used as a basis for vectoring to the final approach course. Ceilings determine how far out the gate the intercept vector should occur.
