Back course (BC). The reciprocal of the localizer course for an ILS. When flying a back-course approach, an aircraft approaches the instrument runway from the end at which the localizer antennas are installed.

Back course is mirror of front course with reverse needle sensing. ILS localizer has four times VOR sensitivity. Backcourse approximates 8 times VOR sensitivity and twice that of the front course.
Sometimes as part of an instrument approach a pilot has to fly the wrong way on the localizer path, which is called flying the back course.
