Live Black Box - A Live Black Box provides in-flight telemetry data transmitted from the aircraft to ground stations, such as the aircraft manufacturer or airline operator.

The aircraft's 'black box' (cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder) are often located in the empennage, because the aft of the aircraft better survives the destructive forces (in most crash scenarios).

One of the so-called "black boxes". It is actually painted bright orange to be easily identified among aircraft debris, and records various parameters such as altitude, heading, airspeed, engine statistics, etc.

A black box with yellow or red numbers is an output box and the value is computed by the program.

An installed system has big advantages over portable systems with the rat's nest of wires, black box, and batteries. However, if you are concerned with clear communication within the cockpit, an intercom is the answer.

Attention then shifts to the NTSB laboratory where, among other things, the aircraft's cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder (called black boxes, though orange in color) are analyzed.
