Bleeding. A term used with reference to the hydraulic system of an aircraft which concerns the expulsion of air from a system.

By raising the nose and bleeding off airspeed, then allowing the nose to come through the turn with maximum bank unloaded, you can severely reduce the horizontal turn radius for the turn.
Then, as the airplane came closer, the pilot eased it into a gentle slip, bleeding off just a little excess altitude before painting it onto the numbers. I was impressed. So smooth, so nice, so accurate.
