Like balloons, airships use hot air and/or lighter-than-air gases to generate lift.

 


These soon became known as blimps. During the Second World War, this shape was widely adopted for tethered balloons; in windy weather this both reduces the strain on the tether and stabilizes the balloon.

These types of aircraft come commonly in the form of hot air balloons, which capture rising hot air to lift the craft, or dirigibles, which are large, gas-filled craft that can be steered, like the Goodyear Blimp.

Your first act should dazzle 'em. Glide down to a low altitude and fly through one of Moffett's three big blimp hangars--specifically, the first hangar to the right of the parallel runways.

LTA - Lighter-than-air craft, generally referring to powered blimps and dirigibles, but often also includes free balloons.
