Boarding Pass: A document attached to a ticket, which permits the passenger to board the aircraft and claim a specific seat.
Not all airlines issue boarding passes.

BOARDING PASS: Authorization to board a plane; often required as proof of flight taken when claiming missing credit.

The agents are required to meet a flight on arrival as well as provide departure services including boarding passengers, closing the flight, etc.
Staffing the Transfer Counters, Customer Service Counters, Airline Lounges, etc.

In accordance with federal regulations, airlines immediately limited access to the security checkpoint to passengers with a valid boarding pass.

Self-service machines will enable passengers to verify their itinerary, obtain class of service upgrades, select specific seat assignments, check baggage with bar-coded baggage tags and obtain their own boarding passes.

If a passenger's flights are operated by two different airlines, they may check baggage or obtain boarding passes for the entire itinerary directly at the departure city's airport, pursuant to interlining agreements or airline alliances.
