Calibrated AirSpeed

Aviation Calculated landing timeCall for release

Calibrated airspeed (CAS) is the speed shown by a conventional airspeed indicator after correction for instrument error and position error. Most EFIS displays also show CAS.

Calibrated Airspeed: Indicated airspeed corrected for instrumentation errors, but not for air density.

Calibrated Airspeed, CAS
Indicated airspeed corrected for position error is called calibrated airspeed, CAS.

CALIBRATED AIRSPEED (CAS) - The indicated air speed of an aircraft, corrected for position and instrument error. CAS is equal to true air speed in standard atmosphere at sea level. Compare INDICATED AIRSPEED and TRUE AIRSPEED.

CAS - calibrated airspeed indicated airspeed corrected for air density and compressibility.
casevac - casualty evacuation.

CAS: Calibrated Airspeed. IAS corrected for air density and compressibility.
CDI: Course Deviation Indicator. The vertical needle of a VOR indicator which shows the aircraft's position relative to the selected radial.

Instead true airspeed is calculated by correcting calibrated airspeed for non-standard temperature and pressure altitude.

AIRSPEED
The speed of an aircraft relative to its surrounding air mass. See: calibrated airspeed; indicated airspeed; true airspeed.
