CARBURETOR ICING - A phenomenon reported to by pilots that occurs immediately after they run out of gas.
CONE OF CONFUSION - An area about the size of New Jersey located near the final approach NDB at an airport.

 


Carburetor Icing: A phenomenon happening to Aero club pilots at exactly the same time they run out of gas.

Carburetor Icing - 1. Usually vanilla. 2. A phenomenon that happens to pilots at exactly the same time they run out of gas.

Certificated Aircraft - One that has all hazardous features camouflaged.

Carburetor icing was ruled out as a reason, because the ambient temperature was substantially below freezing and the humidity was very low. A mechanical failure of the engine was also ruled out.

Affordable (there's that word again) modifications include anticollision strobes, flap and aileron gap seals, a carburetor icing detector, a belly-mounted fuel drain, and conversions allowing aircraft to use auto gasoline.

Carburetor, carburettor, carburator, carburettet heat (usually abbreviated to 'carb heat') is a system used in automobile and piston-powered light aircraft engines to prevent or clear carburetor icing.

Induction icing. A type of ice in the induction system that reduces the amount of air available for combustion. The most commonly found induction icing is carburetor icing.
