Chandelle A very steep climbing turn where the airplane makes a 180° change of direction.

Chandelles, lazy-eights, steep turns and spin entries 95 Kts. Spins are prohibited with flaps down.

A chandelle is a stylized climbing turn. The key elements are:
There is a total heading change of 180 degrees.
During the first 90 degrees, there is a constant bank and smoothly increasing pitch attitude.

Chandelle: Reversal of course by a sharp climbing turn.
CHATTANOOGA: Code Name for a mission against rail targets.
CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO: Operations against rail targets.

Advanced Maneuvers - Spins, chandelles, lazy eights, and aerobatic maneuvers are not be covered here.

Steep turns, lazy eights, and chandelles can be performed (intentional spins are not approved) when the airplane is operated at or below its Utility category maximum takeoff weight of 2,020 pounds.
