Chinook. A warm dry wind which blows from the West on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains. Similar to the 'Foehn' in Europe.

 


In a Chinook, the rear wheel locks are electrically operated. During autorotation, If the rotor RPM decreases below a certain value, the generators will fall off line, and the wheel locks will disengage.

The CH-47 Chinook utilizes tandem rotors
The use of two or more horizontal rotors turning in opposite directions is another configuration used to counteract the effects of torque on the aircraft without relying on an antitorque tail rotor.

Note that this is a multiengine helicopter capable of carrying very large loads. Normally you hope that a multiengine helicopter doesn't have to perform an autorotation.
