Clinometer. An instrument for indicating the lateral attitude of an aeroplane. Closed-jet Wind Tunnel. A wind tunnel in which the air stream passing over the body under test is enclosed by rigid walls.

The in clinometer ball is often referred to as the slip/skid instrument, but that is a misnomer. It measures inclination, not slip. As we shall see in section 17.1.5, it is quite possible for the airplane to be inclined but not slipping.
