CLOSED RUNWAY- A runway that is unusable for aircraft operations. Only the airport management/military operations office can close a runway.
October 31 - Western Airlines Flight 2605, a McDonnell-Douglas DC-10, struck a vehicle on a closed runway in dense fog at Mexico City, Mexico. 72 died.
