COIN - Counter-insurgency aircraft.

COLLECTIVE PITCH CONTROL - Used to change simultaneously the pitch of all of a helicopter rotor's blades to permit ascent or descent.

 


Many types flying close support or COIN (Counter Insurgency Warfare) missions were propeller powered types such as the O-1 and OV-10 Bronco FAC spotters, A-1 Skyraider, B-26 Invader, and AC-47[125] "Spooky" gunship.

There is another side to the partial-flap coin. The pilot who first learns to do such landings is more likely to use them as an option.

On the other side of the same coin, theoretical understanding without practice is not sufficient either.
