Contrails (short for "condensation trails") or vapour trails are visible trails of condensed water vapour made by the exhaust of aircraft engines.
CONTRAILS - Streaks of condensed water vapor created in the air by aircraft flying at high altitudes; aka Vapor Trails.
Contrails: Vapor condensation trails behind engines of high flying A/C. Controlled Interception: Aircraft directed to the target by air or ground station radio communication and/or radar.
Contrails tend to form very high up in the atmosphere, and can cause the development of cirrus clouds. In some cases they can linger for hours. They linger longer when humidity levels are high.
very cold conditions but release of water vapour from engine exhausts, for instance, can quickly saturate calm air, even though the engine exhaust heat tends to lower the relative humidity, and will produce ice fog at the surface or contrails ...
Threat/bogey aircraft leaving contrails. CONTACT 1. Sensor contact at the stated position. 2. Acknowledges sighting of a specified reference point.
