Control Area(UK) is an Aviation Term defined as: Controlled airspace which has been further notified as a control area and which extends upwards from a notified altitude or flight level (ANO).

CONTROL AREA [ICAO]- A controlled airspace extending upwards from a specified limit above the earth.

Terminal Control Area (TCA)
A designated zone around and above the busiest airports. A flight in TCAs carries stringent requirements for pilot experience, aircraft equipment and communications capability.

CTA - Control Area. An area of controlled airspace extending upwards from specified limit agl.
CTR - Control Zone. An area of controlled airspace extending upwards from ground level to a specified upper limit.
