Dew point - The temperature to which humid air must be cooled at constant pressure to become saturated.

Dew Point
The temperature at which water vapor will begin to condense. The relative humidity at the dew point is 100 percent.
Direct User Access Terminal (DUAT) ...

Dew Point. The lowest temperature to which air can be cooled at constant pressure without causing condensation and hence the formation of cloud.
DF. Direction-Finding Wireless Telegraphy.
DFC. Distinguished Flying Cross.

DP - dew point
DR - dead (deduced) reckoning. Plotting position by calculating the effect of speed, course, time and wind against last known position.

In contrast, the dew point measurement is considerably more complex. The dew point sensor contains a chilled mirror that is cooled to the point where a fine film of condensation forms on the mirror's surface.

The Automated Surface Observation System provides continuous observations, and measures and reports altimeter settings, wind speed and direction, gusts, temperature, dew point, visibility information, cloud and ceiling data, variable cloud height, ...

Clouds form when the temperature drops near the dew point and this change can occur rapidly in mountain area's due to the rising of the air. In good weather, thermal heating and cloud buildup are commonly found near the tops of ranges, upwind side.

The air cools adiabatically as it rises. When it cools to its dew point, clouds and precipitation result. The latent heat of condensation makes the air warmer than its surroundings, strengthening the updraft.

Weather measured ceiling two thousand overcast, visibility three, haze, smoke, temperature seven one, dew point five seven, wind two five zero at five, altimeter two niner niner six.
