Downburst
A huge amount of cold air flows out of a Cb causing a strong downdraught with a cross section of 2 - 5 NM in center and horizontal wind shear and updraught around the center and severe horizontal wind shear outside of the Cb.

downburst: highest wind velocity stage; a column of moving area descends from the could base and reaches the ground in under minutes
outburst: the air hitting the ground curls and starts moving away from the gorund ...

DOWNBURST- A strong downdraft which induces an outburst of damaging winds on or near the ground. Damaging winds, either straight or curved, are highly divergent. The sizes of downbursts vary from 1/2 mile or less to more than 10 miles.

Wind shear, associated with thunderstorms, occurs as the result of two phenomena, the gust front and downbursts.

Icing, downbursts, and low visibility are often major contributors to weather related crashes. Birds have been ranked as a major cause for large rotor bursts on commercial turboprop engines, spurring extra safety measures to keep birds away.
