FDR: Flight Data Recorder. One of the so-called "black boxes". It is actually painted bright orange to be easily identified among aircraft debris, and records various parameters such as altitude, heading, airspeed, engine statistics, etc.

Flight Data Recorder (FDR)
Records pertinent technical information about a flight. An FDR will record information about the performance of various aircraft systems, as well as the aircraft's speed, altitude, heading and other flight parameters.

John Foster Dulles, for whom the airport is named, had a distinguished career as a diplomat under Woodrow Wilson, FDR, and Harry Truman. He helped form the United Nations, and was Secretary of State under Dwight D. Eisenhower.
