Fillet
A rounded contour used at the junction of vertical and horizontal surfaces on an aeroplane, to reduce air resistance.

Fillet. A fairing at the junction of two surfaces to improve the airflow and so cut down drag. A fillet is often seen at the trailing-edge wing root.

Creating a fillet is relatively simple. Mix the SuperFil or micro and place it in a sandwich bag or in the middle of a piece of plastic. Close it up and snip a small hole in the bottom of the bag. (See Figure 4).

Approximately triangular fillet in the junction between the wing root and forward fuselage. Improves lift at high angles of attack and delays the stall. The Northrop F-5 was one of the first examples.

This figure shows a Grumman F9F Panther Jet with a large degree of filleting to reduce drag

lift versus drag ...

The airplane is classic/modern in appearance, an admittedly old design updated with new paint and miscellaneous fillets and fairings.
