Flight instructors come in all ages. Don't be alarmed if the flight instructor is younger than your youngest child. There are two important issues you'll want to evaluate regardless of age.

Finding a Good Flight Instructor
Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, is more important to a person's success at learning to fly than having a good flight instructor.

Flight instructors are also sensitive to how well the cockpit is laid out, i.e., is the trim on one side and the carburetor heat on the other? Does it require changing hands to get at the various controls?

CFII: Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument.

It's required reading for my students who are going on to get their Flight Instructor rating. This is the best book for learning about detailed helicopter aerodynamics without having to read a lot of mathmatical equations.

It also defines the certification of flight instructors, ground instructors, airline transient pilots, and student pilots. Part 61 is a why of teaching how to fly.

This is very amusing to demonstrate to young flight instructors that are use to Cessnas. They tend to become a bit green about the gills at first. After a few minutes, the braver ones start to grin widely.
