Geared Engine. An engine in which the power developed on the crankshaft is transmitted to the propeller shaft through a reduction gear.
The Beechcraft series 50 Twin Bonanza is another airplane with geared engines that gives surprising performance for the dollar.
The geared engine is no different, but unfortunately, most pilots tried to use the engine just like normally aspirated engines.
