Hotel - The letter H as pronounced in the phonetic alphabet. Most often heard in intercom conversations between pilots and flight attendants.

BOXER OR BOXER ENGINE - Any horizontally opposed engine in which the corresponding pistons reach top dead center simultaneously, such as those found in most light general aviation aircraft.

The three engines mentioned are all horizontally opposed, four stroke and four cylinder; a popular configuration providing a fully balanced engine that doesn't require crankshaft balance weights.

FLAT-FOUR - Characteristic description of a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine; hence flat-twin, flat-six.

FLIGHT DECK - (I) Separate crew compartment of a cabin aircraft, or (II) the operational deck of an aircraft carrier.
