INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES (IFR) - Rules specified by the FAA for flight under weather conditions that do not meet the minimum requirements for visual flight rules (VFR). Under these conditions the pilot must rely on instruments to fly and navigate.

Instrument flight rules (IFR). Rules and regulations established by the Federal Aviation Administration to govern flight under conditions in which flight by outside visual reference is not safe.

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)
The set of rules that govern instrument flight. Filing IFR or departing IFR means that the pilot is operating under those rules.

Instrument flight rules (IFR) - That portion of the Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR 91) specifying the procedures to be used by aircraft during flight in Instrument Meteorological Conditions.

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)
FARs that govern flight in instrument meteorologic conditions-flight by reference to aircraft instruments.

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR): FAR rules that govern the procedures for conducting instrument flight. (FAR Part 91) ...

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)
Rules governing flight in certain limited visibility and cloud conditions. Under IFR, an aircraft is required to be in contact with air traffic control facilities and is separated by ATC from all other IFR aircraft.

IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) Rules of the road for flights permitted to penetrate clouds and low visibility conditions by reference to cockpit. flight instruments and radionavigation.

Instrument Flight Rules. A set of rules governing the conduct of flight under instrument meteorological conditions.
ILS
Instrument Landing System. A ground based precision approach system that provides course and vertical guidance to landing aircraft.

Instrument flight rules (IFR) flight plans contain the same information as visual flight rules (VFR) flight plans.

Instrument flight rules (IFR) govern how aircraft must fly in bad weather and low visibility.

INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES- Rules governing the procedures for conducting instrument flight. Also a term used by pilots and controllers to indicate type of flight plan.
(See VISUAL FLIGHT RULES.)
(See INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS.) ...

INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES (IFR). Those rules that are in effect when weather prevents flying using only visual methods.
INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (IMC). Weather worse than 1500 feet ceiling or 3 NM visibility. IMC requires use of IFR.

Instrument Flight Rules - A method of flying that requires the pre-filing of a flight plan and involves surveillance by and instructions from air traffic control. IFR is the only legal way to fly in poor weather in which visibility is restricted.

IFR
Instrument Flight Rules ("all" weather operations rules) IG (al) Imperial Gallon (4,54 Liter)
IFR AIRCRAFT/IFR FLIGHT
An aircraft conducting flight in accordance with instrument flight rules.

IFR: Instrument Flight Rules.
ILS: Instrument Landing System.
IMC: Instrument Meteorological Conditions (flight in cloud etc).

An IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flight plan is filed anytime a pilot conducts a flight in instrument conditions or maintains navigation and obstacle clearance with reference to aircraft instruments only.

Instrument Flight Rules. Weather conditions too poor for flight under VFR. Instrument Navigation Equipment and IR (Instrument Rating) by pilot required to fly under these conditions ...

IFR - Instrument Flight Rules; i.e. flight by reference to on-board instruments under conditions of poor visibility or darkness.

ILS - Instrument Landing System.

IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) Regulations governing flight when an IFR flight plan has been filed and activated. Air Traffic Control provides separation between IFR aircraft.

They also must strictly follow IFR or Instrument Flight Rules. In this mode of operation, pilots are flying under reduced visibility and must depend on their instruments for additional guidance and information.

If you intend to fly your airplane at night or under Instrument Flight Rules, you are required to have specific equipment. The necessary equipment, including instruments, radios, etc., is outlined in FAR 91.205.
