Interplane Strut: A structural member in a biplane, triplane or quadruplane which braces the mainplanes to each other. Interplane struts are usually of streamline sections and are attached to the planes at the spars.
If it is a biplane, interplane strut points should be provided on the appropriate ribs.
Wings, interplane struts and tail were identical to those of the D.III, but the D.V's aileron cables passed through the top wing and had small shrouds, while the D.III's cables ran through the lower wing and thence up to crank levers on the top wing.

FLYING WIRES - Interplane bracing wires that help support wing loads when the plane is in flight. Direction of travel is upward and outward from the fuselage to the interplane struts.
Technically, the term "flying wires" addresses those wires which take up the flight loads during positive "G" flight. In a bi-plane those go from the bottom of the fuselage to the top of the interplane strut.
