JOYSTICK - A single floor- or roof-mounted control stick"sideways movement produces ROLL, and forward/backward movement produces PITCH (rudder pedals produce YAW).

Joystick: A colloquial term for Control Column, the primary flying control of an aeroplane or glider which is linked to the ailerons and elevators. It controls the aeroplane in the rolling and pitching planes.

Move both joysticks to the top-left position, which will start the rotation involved in a knife edge spin. You can move the joysticks to the top-right corner, but the left seems to work best (perhaps due to the torque of the engine).

A handheld GPS set ...

The cabin measures a full 45 inches across, making the Star wider than everything in the class except the SOCATA Tobago. Joysticks replace yokes to free up more of the instrument panel, a special benefit with the flat-panel Garmin G1000 system.

Pilots who have only flown aircraft with yokes are amazed how quickly they become accustomed to sticks. If they're not totally comfortable with a joystick by the time they've taxied to the runway, ...
