Minimums section. The area on an IAP chart that displays the lowest altitude and visibility requirements for the approach.
Missed approach. A maneuver conducted by a pilot when an instrument approach cannot be completed to a landing.

LANDING MINIMUMS- The minimum visibility prescribed for landing a civil aircraft while using an instrument approach procedure.

WEATHER MINIMUMS Lowest (worst) visibility conditions under which an aircraft may legally be flown under visual flight rules. When visibility is less than specified minimums, an aircraft must fly under instrument flight rules or not at all.

Personal minimums are distinct from regulatory minimums. For instance, the regulations might permit a pilot with little experience to fly an unfamiliar aircraft on a maximum-range mission over water at night in moderate turbulence, ...

Personal minimums help you in two ways. First, they can keep you from stumbling into situations that exceed your skill level. Second, they can minimize the chance that you'll give in to temptations like get-home-itis, impress-the-passenger-itis, etc.

VFR weather minimums for controlled airspace require at least a 1,000-foot ceiling and three miles visibility except for "Special VFR" clearances to operate "clear of clouds.

Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) - Meteorological conditions expressed in terms of visibility, distance from clouds, and ceiling less than the minimums for visual meteorological conditions (VMC).

Is the quote FAA minimums, or is it based on actual, typical students?

When I asked what their hiring minimums were he told me, "Well, why don't you get your commercial and multi-engine and then come ask me." So I did just that.

When departing or arriving at an airport the pilot must check the local weather to verify if it is not below any minimums, VFR or IFR. These minimums must also take the capabilities of the airplane and the crew into account.

If it is necessary to maneuver at speeds in excess of the upper limit of a speed range for a category, the minimums for the category for that speed must be used.

These "rules" are actually federal laws and they specify in great detail the requirements for equipment in the airplane, the training minimums and operational limits for the pilots, flight attendants, and maintenance personnel.

It begins 200 feet (60 M) beyond the end of the area usable for takeoff or landing. The RPZ dimensions are functions of the aircraft, type of operation and visibility minimums. (Formerly known as the clear zone).
