Aviation OutboundOuter cover

Outer Area: A circular zone round an airport within which the obstructions must not be above a certain height.
Outer Cover: The external covering of the hull of a rigid airship.

 


OUTER AREA (associated with Class C airspace)- Nonregulatory airspace surrounding designated Class C airspace airports wherein ATC provides radar vectoring and sequencing on a full-time basis for all IFR and participating VFR aircraft.

C area is individually tailored, the airspace usually consist of a surface area with 5 nautical miles radius, an outer circle with a ten nautical miles radius that extends from 1,200 feet to 4,000 feet above the airport elevation, and an outer area.

On a centralized deicing facility, the aircraft deicing pad also includes an outer area for maneuvering deicing vehicles (safe zone).
