PTT - press-to-transmit (switch) on an aircraft's control wheel or stick enabling the pilot to make RT transmission 'hands on' via a headset microphone.

PTT Push-to-talk (switch) PULL-PULL A linkage set up using two rods or wires. One is pulled for one direction, the other is pulled for the other.
Radios used are PTT (push-to-talk) transceivers, normally operating in or around the FM VHF 2-metre band (144-148 MHz) , often without the correct licence, and causing interference problems with legitimate users for many miles around.
When frequent radio communications are required, a boom mic—standard on aviation headsets today—and a push-to-talk (PTT) switch are indispensable items. Depending upon the aircraft you fly, you may have to purchase a portable PTT switch.
The desk has a couple of DIN sockets for headsets, a foot switch on the floor for the R/T (radiotelephone) and a PTT (push to talk) switch on the left side of the desk. That does the same as the foot switch, should you prefer not to use it.
