Unit impulse.
A function used as a standard test case in control systems engineering; a spike of ``area'' one at time t = 0; Synonyms: impulse; See Also: unit functions; Symbols: u sub <0> ( t ), delta ( t ); ...

PULSE
A transmission of very brief duration used to carry information by using time measurement or as a series of pulses representing code.
PUSH-PULL
A linkage set up using two rods. One rod pushes, while the other pulls.

The pulsed streamers give us a lot of information. Regions where the pulsed streamers have been stretched out are high velocity regions.

PCM Pulse Code Modulation. A modified FM signal used in high end radios. The signal is coded by the transmitter, resulting in a cleaner signal.
PPM Pulse Position Modulation. Another term for FM.

The AWR transmits a pulse with a duration of approx. 5-10 microseconds in the X (3cm) or C (5,5 cm) bands, with a beam width of 7 degrees.

In addition to transmitting a random series of pulses the beacon also periodically transmits a signal by which it identifies itself. To determine range the airborne transmitter radiates a series of pairs of pulses.

RADAR - A device that, by measuring the time interval between transmission and reception of radio pulses and correlating the angular orientation of the radiated antenna beam or beams in azimuth and/or elevation, provides information on range, ...

MODE- The letter or number assigned to a specific pulse spacing of radio signals transmitted or received by ground interrogator or airborne transponder components of the Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System (ATCRBS).

It automatically receives radio signals from interrogators on the ground, and selectively replies with a specific reply pulse or pulse group only to those interrogators being received on the mode in which the transponder is set.

Distance measuring equipment (DME). A pulse-type electronic navigation system that shows the pilot, by an instrument-panel indication, the number of nautical miles between the aircraft and a ground station or waypoint.

So, the next time you start to do something and you feel your pulse racing and the damp spot building in the palm of the hand, listen to your subconscious. It knows when you're about to do something stupid which is out side your normal risk envelope.

To help improve the "visibility" of aircraft as radar targets, aircraft are equipped with little boxes called transponders. The transponder detects the radar sweep, and in response, generates its own very powerful return pulse.

the man in the car must then strike the active wings briskly upon the air, which will so increase the projectile force as to become superior to the force of gravitation, and if he inclines his weight a little backward, the projectile impulse will ...

An electronic navigational system by which hyperbolic lines of position are determined by measuring the difference in the time of reception of synchronized pulse signals from two fixed transmitters.

(It's almost as though I can feel a student's pulse through my control yoke when one puts a "death grip" the other yoke.) Relax; you'll fly better and be much smoother on the controls if you have a light grip.
