Airport surveillance radar approach.
Radar approach. The controller provides vectors while monitoring the progress of the flight with radar, guiding the pilot through the descent to the airport/heliport or to a specific runway.
Radials. The courses oriented from a station.
RADAR APPROACH CONTROL FACILITY (RAPCON) - A terminal ATC facility that uses radar and non-radar capabilities to provide approach control services to aircraft arriving, departing, or transiting airspace controlled by the facility.
Non-Radar Approach
The approach must begin at an IAF. Full procedure must be flown to assure gradients, communication and safe obstruction avoidance.
A DME arc is not allowed as a substitute for an IAF.
RADAR APPROACH- An instrument approach procedure which utilizes Precision Approach Radar (PAR) or Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR).
