Rated altitude

Aviation Rate of rollRato

'Rated Altitude' - preferably 'rated height' - is the lowest height at which full throttle should be used at normal r.p.m. For a supercharged engine it is the greatest height at which 'the rated boost pressure can be maintained at normal r.p.m.

This brings us to the subject of calibrated altitude and indicated altitude.

Depending on the reference point that is used, such as the surface of the earth or mean sea level, altitudes such as indicated altitude, pressure altitude, density altitude, true altitude, calibrated altitude, and absolute altitude can be shown.

(1) The maximum continuous power, in the case of engines for which this power rating is the same at sea level and at the rated altitude.
