February 11 - Pacific Western Airlines Flight 314, a 737-200 from Edmonton crashed at Cranbrook Airport after thrust reversers did not fully stow following a rejected landing killing 42 of the 48 people on board.
This means that following engine start at the gate, the thrust reversers are used to literally back the aircraft away from the gate. The aircraft then moves under its own power along the taxiways.
