Runway end identifier lights

Aviation RunwayRunway gradient

Runway end identifier lights (REIL). A pair of synchronized flashing lights, located laterally on each side of the runway threshold, providing rapid and positive identification of the approach end of a runway.

Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL) - Two synchronized flashing lights, one on each side of the runway threshold, which identify the approach end of the runway.

RUNWAY GRADIENT- The average slope, measured in percent, between two ends or points on a runway. Runway gradient is depicted on Government aerodrome sketches when total runway gradient exceeds 0.

Runway end identifier lights (REIL) are flashing strobes at each side of the threshold. Precision runways may have runway centreline lighting for the length of the runway. Additionally, rows of transverse white lights mark the first 3000' of runway.
