Semi-rigid airship

Aviation Semi-monocoqueSeparation

Semi-Rigid Airship: An airship in which the envelope, in addition to maintaining its shape by gas pressure also has a rigid keel. From this keel are suspended the passenger car and driving mechanism.

Non-rigid or semi-rigid airships, like the Goodyear blimp, use only the pressure of their lifting gases to maintain their shape. Rigid airships like the infamous Hindenburg have full-envelope metal interior framing.
