Separation minima

Aviation SeparationSeparation point

Separation Minima: The minimum longitudinal, lateral, or vertical distances by which aircraft are spaced through the application of air traffic control procedures.

separation minima - The minimum displacements between an aircraft and a hazard, including another aircraft, that maintain the risk of collision at an acceptable level of safety.

Reduced Vertical Separation Minima or RVSM reduces the vertical separation above FL 290 from 2,000 ft to 1,000 ft.

This requirement, known as Reduced Vertical Separation Minima, or RVSM, separates aircraft between 29,000ft and 41,000ft, and only allows aircraft flying in the same general direction to carry the same altitude.

AIRCRAFT CLASSES- For the purposes of Wake Turbulence Separation Minima, ATC classifies aircraft as Heavy, Large, and Small as follows: ...
