Sextant: An instrument which gives the angular elevation or depression of an object, usually celestial. A bubble sextant uses a bubble to maintain an artificial horizon. Shamal: A North-Westerly wind in Iraq which causes severe dust storms.
On the other hand, at round about the same point in history, Francis Chichester was embarking on a project to fly a floatplane DH Moth from New Zealand to Australia which required incredibly accurate navigation using a sextant to get sun bearings.
