Fixed slot
Tags: FAA Pilot's Handbook
Fixed slot. A fixed, nozzle shaped opening near the leading edge of a wing that ducts air onto the top surface of the wing. Its purpose is to increase lift at higher angles of attack.

Slot A specially-shaped slot in the wing just behind the leading edge. This directs airflow from below to the top of the wing, and helps low-speed flight by delaying the stall. Because they are permanently-mounted, they do add drag.

SLOT - A long, narrow, spanwise gap in a wing, usually near the leading edge, to improve airflow at high angles of attack for slower landing speeds.

Slot: A narrow air passage running spanwise on an aerofoil, flap, aileron, elevator or rudder.

[edit] Slot & Calculated Take-Off Time
The CFMU issues delays by means of a CTOT (Calculated Take-Off Time), also known as slot time or simply slot.

SLOT TIME-
(See METER FIX TIME/SLOT TIME.)
SLOW TAXI- To taxi a float plane at low power or low RPM.

SLOT - The gap between the slat and leading-edge of the main airfoil, which splits the airflow and maintains a smooth flow over the main airfoil upper surface.

SPAN - The distance from tip to tip of the wing or tailplane.

Terminal slot
A gate at an airport terminal for alighting and boarding of passengers and/or freight at a specified time.
Tonne kilometres available ...

Leading edge slats prevent the stall up to approximately 30 degrees incidence (angle of attack) by picking up a lot of air from below, where the slot is large (Figure 3), ...

The most expensive fix is construction of a leading edge slot. A 'cuff' or drooped leading edge may be used, ...

It follows that if we guide air through a narrowing slot (a funnel) it must go faster and faster to get through and if the exit is smaller than the entrance we have a definite suction at the exit.

Place the gear in the bench vise to hold it in place. Avoid damaging the gear by overtightening. Drill out the slot in the gear slightly larger than the pot that holds the gear in place.

The result is a jet of high-velocity air at the same pressure as the local air.8
The jet shoots out of a slot in the top of the wing, adding energy to the boundary layer at a place where this could be very helpful.

The Beech model 95 first filled the product slot between the model 35 V-tail Bonanza and the larger twin-engine D-50 Twin Bonanza.

All suppliers are not created equal and it is absolutely necessary the builder sort out the rotten apples before tossing the envelope in the mail slot.

don't want to delay your student's checkride for an entire month. Ask the examiner to put you on his or her wait list for the time when you suspect your student will be ready. That way, if another instructor cancels, you get dibs on the slot.

be precise, but your altitude is critical--and you must judge both of these visually. In particular, you must be at an altitude that will clear the base of the launch pad, but be below the gantry arms. You'll be flying through a little square slot.
