Tabs

Aviation Synthetic visionTac

TABS - Small auxiliary control surfaces which can be adjusted to offset aerodynamic loads imposed on main control surfaces.

TAC - Tactical Air Command (USAF).

The tabs are usually controlled by a wheel which is often situated on the floor between the two front seats. Some aircraft have the trim controlled by a small rocker switch on the control column.

Trim Tabs:
A trim tab is a small, adjustable hinged surface on the trailing edge of the aileron, rudder, or elevator control surfaces. Trim tabs are labor saving devices that enable the pilot to release manual pressure on the primary controls.

Trimming Tabs: Small auxiliary movable tabs on the trailing edges of control surfaces.

Tabs are also added to the printed output of the application.
On 15 Sep 03 version 1.6a was released. This version includes the component output panel, additional input and output variables, and some new input options for the flight conditions.

If the complete horizontal tail assembly was bought it would come with the elevator and trim tabs all hinged and ready to cover. The cost including crating but excluding freight would be $950. The raw material costs would be less than $125.

Cut the plastic stop tabs off the back of the output gear using the wire cutters. Use the small file to remove any excess plastic that might cause the servo gear to slow down or stop spinning.

Control was achieved by using auxiliary wings or servo-tabs on the trailing edges of the blades, a concept that was later adopted by other helicopter designers, including Bleeker and Kaman.

trim
To adjust an aircraft's trim tabs and thereby relieve the pressure required on the controls to keep the nose in the desired position
V(x)
Speed for best angle of climb ...

Multi-engined aircraft and some light aircraft also include trim tabs on the rudder when asymmetric forces would impose unusual loads on the pilot's rudder controls.
