TACAN - tactical air navigation system. An ultra-high frequency electronic navigation aid which provides suitably-equipped aircraft with a continuous indication of bearing and distance to the selected Tacan station.

TACAN. See tactical air navigation.
Tactical air navigation (TACAN). An electronic navigation system used by military aircraft, providing both distance and direction information.
TAWS. See terrain awareness and warning system.

TACAN - Tactical Air Navigation. A navigational system used by the military. TACAN provides both azimuth and distance information to a receiver on board an aircraft.

TACAN.
Tactical Air Navigation;
TACAN Point-to-Point (TCNP).
A basic guidance mode, providing lateral guidance to a point relative to a TACAN station by specified range and bearing; ...

TACAN-ONLY AIRCRAFT- An aircraft, normally military, possessing TACAN with DME but no VOR navigational system capability. Clearances must specify TACAN or VORTAC fixes and approaches.

TACAN - TACtical Aid to Navigation - a ground based military UHF navigation aid
Take - Common term for the results of photo recon, Elint or Sigint missions
TCT - Time critical targeting ...

VORTAC tells us that there is a VOR with TACAN located on the field. There are two numbers located outside of the blue rectangle. The first, 122.

Examples include VOR, TACAN, and PLS. Radio navigation differs from other navigation in that the transmitter signals often dropout for a long period of time, like minutes.

Although 978 MHz resides in the TACAN assigned portion of the aeronautical spectrum, in the US 978 is used for transmission of airborne ADS-B reports and for broadcast of ground-based aeronautical information.

Each procedure is designated for use with a specific type of electronic navigation system including NDB, TACAN, VOR, ILS/MLS, and RNAV. These charts are identified by the type of navigational aid(s) which provide final approach guidance.

VOR is the most commonly used radio navigation aid in private
flying. Increased accuracy is available in Doppler VORs (DVOR) which have replaced
some VOR is the UK system. Also VORTAC, combined VOR and TACAN, and VOT, VOR test facility.
