Constant Torque On Take-off (CTOT) assists a pilot in setting take-off power by electronically adjusting fuel to maintain a pre-selected torque.

 


If the speed and direction of rotational motion is unchanging, engine torque will have no noticeable effects.

Forces, Torques, and Motion As an object moves through space it translates and rotates. The translations are in direct response to forces on the object. The rotations are in response to torques on the object.

In accordance with Newton's law of action and reaction, the helicopter fuselage tends to rotate in the direction opposite to the rotor blades. This effect is called torque.
