Wedge: An area of high pressure radiating from an anticyclone, which when plotted as isobars appears as a wedge.
Weight: The relative mass of a body or the relative reaction on a body caused by some attractive force such as gravity.

9Some other books try to calculate the torque using a “cross product” but the wedge product is much nicer. The wedge product is in some sense complimentary to the dot product used in section 4.5.

As the engine will be operating on an incline due to the angle of the propeller shaft, it wil be necessary to provide a wedge beneath the carburetor to create a horizontal level of fuel chamber.

Roland Garros solved this problem by mounting steel deflector wedges to the propeller of a Morane Saulnier monoplane. He achieved five kills, but was shot down behind enemy lines, and captured before he could destroy his plane by burning it.

The wing of an airplane sweeps through these bullets, or molecules, of air like a horizontal plow, wedges the particles downward in vast numbers and in a continual stream, making up in amount what is lacking weight; ...

As the speed of the airplane and the depth of the water increase, the water layer builds up an increasing resistance to displacement, resulting in the formation of a wedge of water beneath the tire.

You can choose from three different flow problems using the buttons on the blue bar at the top of the graphics window: a single wedge, a double wedge in series, or opposed wedges.

The fuselage was long and cylindrical, with fairings towards the rear giving it a flattened look, and it had thick wedge-shaped dorsal and ventral fins. Parts of the fuselage were made of a heat-resistant nickel-based alloy (Inconel-X 750).

It will be noted that in the case of either a warm or cold occlusion, three air masses are present, a cool air mass advancing on a cold air mass, or a cold air mass advancing on a cool air mass, with, in either case, a warm air mass lying wedge ...

Or maybe modify a tire iron. Or grind up a piece of half inch plate steel and tape the handle end. Or wedge a short piece of 4130 plate into a piece of tubing and pour it full of lead. Use your imagination.

Working with Raymond Saulnier, a French aircraft manufacturer, Garros, added deflector plates to the blades of the propeller of his Morane-Saulnier. These small wedges of toughened steel diverted the passage of those bullets which struck the blades.

The vertical stabilizer was reconfigured and enlarged slightly, and a ventral fin was added beneath the tail. The trim tab on the right elevator also received a gurney device: a small, wedge-shaped, metal tab attached to the trailing edge.

Generally made from tool steel, a drift pin can be of virtually any length or diameter but sized appropriately for the task at hand. Drift pins are usually mildly tapered and act like a wedge, ...
