CABANE STRUT - Wing strut attached to the fuselage.
CALIBRATED AIRSPEED (CAS) - The indicated air speed of an aircraft, corrected for position and instrument error. CAS is equal to true air speed in standard atmosphere at sea level.

Struts; Wing Struts.-The vertical members of the wing trusses of a biplane, used to take pressure or compression, whereas the wires of the trusses are used to take pull or tension. There are also fuselage struts and chassis struts.

That is also why wing struts under the wing are common but struts on the top of the wing have been historically rare. A strut, or any obstruction, on the top of the wing would interfere with the lift.

There was moisture in the clouds; water beads were forming and rolling back off the Skyhawk's wing strut. Levelling at 4,000 put us 200 feet above the tops in brilliant sunshine. The temperature read 38 degrees. Our clearance was St.

A wing strut supports the wing, and goes from the fuselage to the wing. Cabane struts are on biplanes, and support the upper wing over the fuselage.

Wires or cables, usually running from the top of the top centre-section plane to the outer wing struts of a biplane, designed to resist forces opposite to the normal direction of lift.

The cantilever wing (no supporting wing struts) is fitted with hinged ailerons and four-position (0, 10, 25 and 40 degrees) hinged flaps. The spring-loaded, balanced flaps are extended by pulling on a metal bar between the front seats.
