BASELINE DRIVES
When the 2 drives baseline the opposite wing should dive to his baseline for a possible pass, while the opposite post (4) should flash to the middle of the lane. 5 looks to seal off his defender up the lane.

 


Baseline drive -A move where an offensive player DRIBBLES along the BASELINE to get along side of the BASKET and shoots usually with a LAY-UP or REVERSE LAY-UP.

Goal #4: Baseline Drive
Start with a player in the opposite Corner. Dribbler from Goal #3 drives Baseline. The Corner starts to Circle Move, but then must come back to the corner position to fill the Natural Pitch window.

With girls I would prefer forcing baseline since most are not athletically able to really get to the hoop from a baseline drive. I also like the trap on the baseline from the weak side defender coming over to help.

If a defensive player acquires a position directly under the basket/backboard on anything but a "baseline drive," he shall be responsible if contact occurs. An offensive foul should never be called under these conditions.

Baseline Drive: term for an aggressive rush moving along the baseline to the basket.

We tell our players that all players must box out on a shot, no one is allowed to get beat middle on a dribble, the players must fill'n sink on baseline drives properly, must closeout with hands high when their opponent receives the pass, ...
