Center Circle
The Center Circle is a 12 foot diameter circle located in the center of the court. It is used to start the game and other jump ball situations.
Center circle - the circular area at midcourt from which jump balls are taken. Charging - a personal foul committed when an offensive player illegally contacts a defensive player who has established position or is stationary.

Center Circle: This is a circle in the middle of the basketball court where the game starts with a jump ball. The Center Circle is 3.6 meters in diameter or about 12 feet. This is usually where a team will put its logo.

Write "Center circle" on the circle in the center of the basketball court. This circle is reserved for the two players who jump for the ball at the onset of every game.

The game is started with a jump ball in the center circle between two opponents. A player is out of bounds when touching the floor on or outside the boundary line.

Try not to dribble the ball over half-court unless you pass through the center circle. Most teams want you to cross half-court and pick up your dribble so that they can trap you on the sideline.

When the shot goes up, the three "big-men" crash the offensive boards, while two guards retreat to the mid-court line, one on each side of the center circle. The guard on the ball-side will pick up the dribbler and try to stop the ball.
The game begins with the ball being thrown up by the referee. Two players, standing in the center circle, jump for it and try to tap it to one of their team mates.
