A line midway between and parallel to the baselines that divides the court into halves. Also known as division line, midcourt line, ten-second line, and time line.

Center Official: game official who monitors and calls the play between the free throw line and mid court mark.

with three defenders across the center line, and two at the top of the key, again have your "tight end" in the middle (O4) and one of your wings along the ball-side sideline. Send one tall, good receiver down deep, to the hoop.

After the team has made a basket, or has turned over the ball, they will sprint back across the center line and turn around to pick up their checks.

You are advancing the ball with a dribble toward your basket. The two teammates ahead of you are not open. As you approach the center line, a defender is waiting for you. What should you do?

The ball is considered in the front court only when the offensive player with the ball has both feet over the center line.

Your shooting hand palm is under the ball and facing the basket with your thumb pointing in toward the center line of the court. Release the ball with a quick flick of the wrist and fingers with your thumb turning back toward your ear.

Over-and-back: A violation that occurs when the offensive team lets the ball cross the center line back into their own half-court after already establishing a presence in the offensive half-court. Also called a "Backcourt violation".
