Centre circle

Basketball CentersCharging

1937 Games have previously re-started after a score with a jump-ball at the centre circle but now, in another rule change that speeds up the game, the re-start is to be from a pass from the end-line. "Goal-tending" is disqualified.

The referee tosses the ball vertically upwards between 2 opponents at the centre circle. The ball must be tipped (not caught) by one or both of the opponents, only after it reaches its highest point.

Player sprints to centre circle where they jump stop, forward pivot 360 degrees and footfire (pitter-patter) in defensive stance 20 times. (Emphasise: aggressive pivots)
7.

All players not involved in the jump-ball must be away from the centre circle. Players involved in the jump-ball may only touch the ball twice.

The referee throws the ball into the air in the centre circle and two opposing players leap up and try to tap it away.
Each player is allowed two taps before the ball hits the ground, a basket, a backboard or another player.
