The four corners offense is an offensive strategy for stalling in basketball. Four of the players stand in the corners of the offensive half-court and the fifth dribbles the ball in the middle.

Stay in the corners, about 6 feet from the sideline and the half-court line.
After receiving the pass, if not pressured, hold the ball until the defense comes and pass back to O1.

That is not the case with this this version of the 1-3-1 because player #5 covers the ball in the left corner and player #4 covers the right corner. This is a ball defense.

Corner Drill aka Bull Rush
It really emphasizes hustle, one-on-one moves and strong defense. Plus, the kids really enjoy it. You have the group divided up into two equal teams.

The "Corner" is primarily used to designate the area where the sideline and baseline meet. This is another favorite area from which players like to shoot. It is usually an open area when zone defense is played.

TOP TO CORNER OPTION
--Offensive players are set on the foul line and in the strongside corner. Defender is in defensive position, guarding the high post. Coach is on the wing with two balls.

The goal of the four-corner drill is to perform it in the shortest amount of time possible. Start in one corner of the court and sprint to the opposite baseline.

Make 3 lines - 2 lines of players positioned in the corner of the floor, and another line at the half court circle. Position 1 player in the power zone just below the foul line.

The basketball dribble is the cornerstone of the basketball offense. To begin the offense, the player must move the ball down the court by dribbling or passing.

The goal of baseball is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four markers called bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond.

Corner Shots - come off at little or no angle and are either long or short... On Every Shot - take a position in an open area... To avoid jumping over the opponent, take a position in an open area instead of behind an opponent.

-If an offensive player in the corner gets the ball, you have to hustle around to the baseline side and prevent a quick pass from the corner for an easy lay up.

John Beilein at West Virginia uses a test to determine who can shoot threes. If a player wants to shoot threes in a game he must make six three's in thirty seconds with his first shot coming from one corner and his last from the opposite corner.

Forward -A player that covers the corners of the court and around the BASKET. There are usually 2 forwards on the court at a time.

Forwards are some of smallest players on the team. Usually plays around the wing or corner and usually drives along the baseline. Should be a solid rebounder. A good runner. A hard driver and a good passer.

The Entry Line is a line drawn from the basket THROUGH the corner of the key and the free throw line, on out to half court. The passer should attempt to get as close to that line with the dribble prior to passing to the wing.

So if the goal was scored from the right, the player would stand in the right-hand corner to throw the ball in. This is also how play is restarted after a successful free throw.

Trap - A defensive tactic in which two players double-team the ball handler in a corner of the court.

Double Team - When two players from the same team move up to guard one offensive player it's called a double team. When two players cover an offensive player in a corner it's also known as a "trap".

For those who admire long-range bombers, there was none better than Jerry West, who filled it up from the corner, the top of the key, and Section 3, Row 8. Had today's 3-point line been in effect, West's career average of 27.

You want repeatability in your shot, take every shot the same way. Take as many shots as you can. First take them all in a row, 50 from the corner, 50 from the wing, etc.

When a team has the ball it must advance into the opponents' half within 10 seconds, making a shot within 30 seconds - hence the timers in the corners (shot-clocks) counting down from 30 all the time.

Practice forcing two ways: one, practice forcing and staying with the offense as they bring the ball downcourt; two, practice forcing from each position around the basket: corners, sides, and straight away.

If the offensive player does find somebody to pass to, then the players shift to the ball, and attempt to set up another trap with similar defensive assignments. They attempt to force the ball to the corners, trap, and cover the middle of the floor.
