Effective Field Goal Percentage
A better representation of a player's shooting ability it takes into account the bonuses of a made three-pointer. It is calculated: FGM + (0.5 x 3PM))/FGA.
Effective Field Goal Percentage (eFG%) is a modified FG%, taking into account the increased value of made three pointers. On the team level, team eFG% and opponent eFG% are a part of Dean Oliver's Four Factors.
eFG% - Effective Field Goal Percentage
Measures field goal percentage adjusting for the fact that a 3-point field goal is worth one more point than a 2-point field goal.= ((FGM + (0.5 * 3PM)) / FGA
EFG% Effective Field Goal Percentage; the formula is (FG + 0.5 * 3P) / FGA. This statistic adjusts for the fact that a 3-point field goal is worth one more point than a 2-point field goal.
